“killing people is like squashing an ant”

All the talk about terrorism, war crimes and civilized values; and human rights, democracy and liberation - is just that - hot air.

"Killing people is like squashing an ant" sayeth the pride of the US Armed Forces, or rather, Mr. Green, who raped a teenage girl and then killed her and her family in Mahmudiyya, Iraq:
"I shot a guy who wouldn't stop when we were out at a traffic checkpoint and it was like nothing," he went on. "Over here, killing people is like squashing an ant. I mean, you kill somebody and it's like 'All right, let's go get some pizza.' "
Read his interview, and decide for yourself whether it is a systemic widespread problem of the Zionaxis, or a one-off anomaly.

This is what war does to humans.

"From up here they look like ants and their flesh tastes just like chicken."

My father retired from the Marines (Master Gunnery Sgt) in 1963 after 22 years service. Many years later he related to our family that the military changed drastically during this time, in that they were accepting many applicants that, in his mind, were not the right kind of men.

Stories coming out of Nam in the late 60's attested to the atrocities many of the soldiers were ordered to commit, some having life-long consequences of PSD upon their return home.

When did the military begin accepting people with a history of drugs and criminal records? It appears men like Green are easily persuaded to commit acts of violence that most other people would not do. Breeding a military without moral compassion, even for their alleged enemies, is a scary enterprise one that could have far reaching and disastrous consequences.

No matter who the enemy is the rape of a young 14-year old girl holds no merit for any soldier. It is a despicable, heinous crime that deserves immediate disciplinary action and a dishonorable discharge from the US miliary.

Unfortunately, Green's reprehensible act proves that our military has NO honor, not anymore and this fact is even more tragic.

Generalizations such as the whole US military having no honour because of the known evil actions of a few, is like generalising all Israeli's support the evil actions of their government.

There are some sensible people in Israel, who basically need to overthrow it's evil regime, and it's over.

They should maybe get some tips from the UN compound being stormed in Beirut.

My comment is far from generalizing, however, maybe I failed to be more explicit. Furthermore, the US military atrocities seem widespread. Here are just a few examples.

Countless My Lai Massacres in Iraq

US Military Atrocities in Mindanao

And let us not forget Abu Ghraib and Guantánamo.
